xchange
Theme: Masterplanning
date to be determined

Held in an informal setting, in which we invite a few people with interesting ideas to present to an audience of young architects, the objective of the Really Ar? sessions is to promote exchange of good ideas.
Theme and Call for Speakers
We are looking for speakers to present interesting designs, built and unbuilt. We are looking for ideas that are intelligent, fresh and distinctive. The projects need not be large in scale, but hopefully groundbreaking and radical in some way.
Fun, great, cool, creative, interesting, crazy, scary, brain wrecking, spectacular, challenging, the best, excellent, shiok, record breaking, oh my gosh… This was how the primary 5 students had described the pilot YUP workshop yesterday. Held at URA Centre, the workshop was attended by 31 participants from Radin Mas and River Valley Primary School. The programme was really packed – it was like the 3-day Design My Place workshop (for JC students) compressed into 1 day! But somehow, it was still magically manageable.

And so our first session of Really Ar? came and went. In all, I must say we were quite pleased at the turn out, though it is still a constant struggle trying to get some serious discussion about issues started. I guess it's just the mood that people are in after a long day's work. Still, it is a start! The next time we do this, we will probably have a more specific theme and find speakers accordingly. That would help steer the discussion a lot more.
Design My Place is a workshop for students, organised by ReallyArchitecture, to induct the youth into the mysteries of architecture and urban design. The students will be studying a neighbourhood area in Singapore and come up with designs that will help improve the area. These suggestions could form a resource and become an ideas-bank from which the authorities might consider translating into actual projects, empowering the youths to take initiatives, making positive changes for the community.

This is a film documentary meant to bring about architecture awareness emerging from societal phenomenon. The exhibition includes a simultaneous screening of two separate film about the 2 cities (Singapore and Los Angeles), displaying the struggle in everyone when it comes to differentiating the ‘Real’ and ‘Virtual’ perceptions. The camera moves in various speeds, experimenting with the human’s visual digestion of the surroundings. The audience then interacts with this diptych digestion of sound and visuals, having to choose which to accept or to reject during the experience.
